This video is part of the Foundations of Yoga series and will teach you Salabhasana, also known as the Locust pose. This pose is great for supporting your spine and gives your whole body a nice workout.
The Locust pose serves as a preparation for more advanced yoga position, such as the Bow, and other asanas that include bending your back. The Locust improves the flexibility of your spine and prepares it for more challenging positions. It resembles the "Superman" exercise which targets your lower back, but with a slight twist.
You can perform Salabhasana even if you are a beginner, although, it depends on your current flexibility how much can you extend. If you can't do it like Adriene right from the start, don't worry. You'll get there soon if you keep practicing this position at least three times per week.
